Common questions in this chat
Do I need a visa for Da Nang and how long can I stay?
It depends on your passport. About two dozen countries (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Japan, South Korea, the Nordics and others) get 45 days visa-free per entry, under resolutions that run to March or August 2028. Everyone else applies for an e-visa, valid up to 90 days. Da Nang airport is an e-visa entry point, so check that on evisa.gov.vn. Do I have to register with the local police when I rent in Da Nang?
Yes, a foreigner's stay has to be declared to the local ward/commune police. Hotels do it automatically. If you rent, your landlord usually files it, and filing is moving to a national online portal. Ask for confirmation, since you may need it for extensions and residence cards. Owners can be fined for not declaring you. Can I work legally from Da Nang as a nomad or get a residence card?
There is no digital nomad visa in Vietnam as of Oct 2026. Working remotely on an e-visa is a grey area: law doesn't carve out remote work, and enforcement targets local employment. For legal long stays you need a work permit through a Vietnamese employer, then a temporary residence card of up to 2 years. How do I apply for the 90-day e-visa for Da Nang?
Apply on evisa.gov.vn, where the official fee is USD 25 for single entry or USD 50 for multiple entry, valid up to 90 days. You upload a passport photo, the data page and enter your arrival port; Da Nang airport is on the list. Approval usually takes a few working days, so apply well before the flight and print the e-visa. Source: evisa.gov.vn (fees also confirmed by kkday.com/en/blog/90072/vietnam-visa). Checked: 2026-10.
Can I extend my stay in Da Nang or do a visa run?
Guides say e-visas and visa-exempt entries cannot be extended inside Vietnam. Embassy-issued tourist visas can often be extended at the Da Nang Immigration Office, typically through an agency, and approval is discretionary. The usual alternative is a visa run: exit and re-enter on a new e-visa or exemption. Check the address on the official site before going. Source: basedanang.com/visa-entry/vietnam-visa-extension/. Checked: 2026-10.
